Brow tattooing treatment preparation

  • Protect the area from sun exposure two weeks prior to treatment.

  • Preferably have your brows tidied prior to treatment.

  • Do not tint the brows within one week of appointment/ no tinting until four weeks after.

  • Gently exfoliate the area for up to 3 days prior. Ensure the skin is well nourished.

  • Do not use any brow - enhancing serums or lamination products for 30 days before the treatment.

  • You will be advise not to wet your brows for 5 to 7 days following the treatment, I recommend washing your hair the night before.

  • Do not drink alcohol within 24 hours prior to treatment

  • Some medications may cause adverse effect, please call for further advice. A doctor’s approval may be required before proceeding.

  • Cease intake of fish oil supplements one week before treatment.

  • Consider any social events or work meetings for the week following your treatment.

  • If the area you would like to treat has existing cosmetic tattoo, please call for further advice prior to appointment.

Brow tattooing aftercare

  • Each night clean the area by gently patting your brows with a damp cotton pad, removing all the old product & weeping.

  • Using a cotton tip apply a thin layer of aftercare gel (ensuring to cover underneath the brow hairs) , do this morning & night and recommended to do before your shower to act as a barrier if any splashes get on your brows.

  • No water/soap or cleansers on the treated area for seven days.

  • This procedure must be repeated for 7 days minimum. If your brows are still scabby & dry after 7 days let the water run over them to help loosen the scabs and keep applying your gel daily.

  • Once healed minor patchiness in the colour may be present in some areas, this is normal and will be adjusted accordingly in your second treatment. I recommend wearing brow powder/pencil to cover these areas once the scabbing has fallen off and brows appear to be healed.

    • Do not touch the tattooed area with your fingers.

  • The following activities should be avoided for 48 hours after treatment gym/exercise, excessive sweating, sauna & spray tanning.

  • For two weeks following treatment avoid pool & salt water, high UV exposure, sunbeds and infa-red light exposure.

  • Colour appears darker than desired for 5 to 7 days, then it appears as if the colour has disappeared once the scabbing comes off, that colour then reappears around the four week mark.

  • Avoid make up on the treated area until healed.

  • Do not pick the flaking skin or formed scabs (this is very important).

  • Expected healing time 5 to 14 days.

  • It is recommended to return for your perfection visit 4 to 8 weeks after your first session, expect minor gaps or colour loss in some areas of your brows.

Long term aftercare

  • Chemicals in skin care products will accelerate fading & may discolour the tattoo further.

  • AHA’s, BHA’s, benzoyl peroxide, bleaching agents & chemical peels should be avoided on the area yet can be used around.

  • Sun exposure over time will cause fading, wear spf over the area.

  • Return in 6-12 months time for a consult and possibly to schedule a touch up. You may notice shrinking, colour loss & gaps.

Lip blush treatment preparation

  • If you have a history of cold sores, it is essential to see a health consultant (pharmacist or Doctor) at least 4-days prior to treatment and request preventative intervention.

  • Ensure the lip area is not sunburnt, damaged, chapped or too dry.

  • Gently exfoliate 1-week prior to treatment and sleep with a hydrating product (e.g. Pawpaw balm, lip treatment or Bepanthen) on the lip area.

  • Repeat the above step every second night until the day of treatment.

  • Avoid Laser within 2-weeks of your appointment.

  • You’ll need to avoid laser on or near the lip area post-tattooing. I recommend ensuring any laser treatment courses are completed prior to having Lip Blushing.

  • Avoid alcohol consumption 24 hours prior.

  • Some medications may cause adverse effects. Please get in touch for further advice regarding any medication you are taking. Doctor approval may be required in some medical circumstances.

  • If you take supplements known to thin the blood, such as fish oil, cease taking 1 week prior to treatment.

Lip blush aftercare

FOR 2 WEEKS POST-TREATMENT

★ Exercise: Avoid cardio workouts and excessive sweating until the healing area starts to scab up (2-5 days). Once scabbing starts, you may resume normal exercising, however, be cautious of exposing the area to sweat.

★ Do not touch the healing area with fingers.

★ Do not expose or submerge the area in chlorinated pools or salt water.

★ Avoid saturating the area in water.

★ Avoid hot, steamy showers, steam rooms and saunas until healed.

★ Avoid spray tanning the area until healed.

★ Avoid consuming alcohol for 48 hours post-treatment.

★ Protect the area from sun exposure and ensure your skin is in good health for 2-weeks prior to treatment.

★ Do not pick the flaking skin or scabs.

★ Ensure your touch up is booked for 4-8 weeks post treatment.

★ Certain chemicals in cleansers and moisturisers will accelerate fading and may discolour the tattoo. Avoid applying these products to any tattooed areas unless directed to do so.

★ Expected healing time is 5-9 days.

Aftercare

Swelling may be expected after treatment. This normally subsides throughout the day, however, may last 3-5 days.

Apply a cold compress or ice to the area immediately after treatment, for just a few minutes, and repeat every few hours that day. (do not apply ice directly to the skin)

Avoid consuming hot drinks or alcohol for the first few days post-treatment.

Using a clean cotton tip, apply a very thin layer of recommended Aftercare product to the area, regularly, throughout the day.

Do not apply makeup to the area or touch with fingers until healed (1 week).

Dryness, flaking, and peeling may be expected within the first few days and is normally completed within a week.

The colour normally disappears at first, due to the changes in new skin. Colour will return at around 7-weeks.

If you experience symptoms of cold sores, inflammation, or tenderness at the treated area, notify your Artist and consult a pharmacist immediately.

Return for a touch up at 8-weeks.

1 week after all cosmetic tattooing treatments

Where did the colour go?

During the healing process, the tattooed area will become intensely dark and minor scabbing will develop as new collagen-rich skin forms underneath and once the scabbing falls off the new skin temporarily makes the pigment appear faded and dull. Protect and nourish this new skin and the colour will return within a few weeks.
